#11: Monte Carlo Simulations

Familiar with programming but don't know about Monte Carlo simulations? Just jump into the blog The art of solving problems with Monte Carlo simulations. The code examples are in Go. After reading the blog, you'll have a new way of thinking about probability. The two examples, the Monty Hall problem and the option pricing model, given in the blog, show how you can apply it to real-life problems.

πŸ’€ Deprecate Python Functions

People don't stop using old APIs. This fun approach forces people to stop using deprecated functions by making the application slower each day. Just add it as a decorator to the deprecated function.

P.S. Do NOT actually use this decorator.

πŸ—“ Last Week, Next Week

Reading

As promised, I finished reading the book On Writing Well last week. This week, I'll gather my thoughts and all the new things I learned from the book. I'm also thinking about the best way to share them.

Travel

On Saturday, I went on a hiking trip to Nokogiriyama. It was a short and easy hike. It took me two and half hours (going up and down). Enjoy the picture from the start of the trail and the view of Tokyo Bay from the top.

Podcast

This year, my co-host and I made a pivot in our podcast. We started interviewing founders running businesses in Japan on the podcast. I created a new trailer for it and published it today. It has been 11 months since I started the podcast, and now I feel like I have much better copywriting and audio editing skills. Let me know if you like the trailer.

Next Week

The post-production for the next episode of my podcast is also complete. Expect it sometime this week.
Horizon Forbidden West is coming out next week. I'm pretty excited to kill some machines.

Cheers! Have a productive day.
