If it's B2B, it's slow because you need to go through many levels. In Japan, they take it slower. I have a customer who has been with us for 8 years, and they have given us millions of revenue. From the first meeting we had, it took one and a half years to actually sign up.

💰 Pandemic And Salary Changes In Japan

Opensalary.jp is a salary aggregator website for software engineers in Japan. Drew Terry, who built opensalary.jp, analyzed how the salaries have changed from 2020 to 2021.

Three main takeaways from the thread:

• Median total compensation increase was 6.7% keeping the year of experience constant.
• Each additional year of experience results in a 6.4% increase in total compensation.
• So, if you got 13.1% raise last year, you are being paid your market value. If not, you might be undervalued.

🏃 Catching Up To Twitter After A Vacation

Twitter has some great advanced search features. Last week I learned how I could quickly catch up when I've been away from Twitter/internet for a few days. Here's how you do it:

Search for the following phrase and go to the Top tab. Don't forget to replace the placeholder dates.

filter:follows since:YYYY-MM-DD until:YYYY-MM-DD

The following image shows an example of a search to find the top tweets in the last week from the people you follow.

I learned that I could take full-page screenshots in chrome. This is life-changing. I have been using other hacks till now.

Here's how:

Inspect (cmd+opt+J) -> open command palette (cmd+shift+p) -> type screenshot and select Capture full size screenshot

🗓 Personal Updates

Last week, besides publishing the podcast episode, I mostly played Horizon Forbidden West. The game improves upon the previous entry in all ways, and the game looks gorgeous even on PS4 pro. The main story is also great so far. I really like the shieldwing, and new melee moves in terms of gameplay. I had lots of fun gliding down the mountains and towers with the shieldwing.
